System Overview 

The EXPEC 249 purge & trap sampler is a sample pretreatment system for capturing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in liquid, solid, and gaseous samples. A liquid sample is introduced into the purge tube and purged with an inert gas. VOCs are carried by the inert gas through the internal flow path and retained on the trap. After the purge & trap process, the valve switches the trap into the GC carrier-gas flow path. The trap is rapidly heated, and the desorbed VOCs are transferred with the GC carrier gas into the GC/GC-MS system for separation and analysis.
